555 Collins Street will provide a dynamic and elegant residential tower regenerating a prominent, but neglected corner site within Melbourne’s CBD. The tower form is distinguished by a unique tapered podium which allows for the creation of an increased public realm and generous retail precinct.

The tapered base also means daylight can filter into the internal spaces, while at night, light will illuminate the surrounding precinct. A continuous pedestrian loop will link the development with the adjacent building, expanding public amenity and creating a contemporary addition to Melbourne’s collection of laneways.

The design for the façade was in part inspired by the idea of bay windows and the vertical expressions of nearby historical buildings. The internal plans and the desire to capture specific views resulted in a series of vertical lines erupting from the base of the building and extending upwards. These vertical lines create a dynamic and evolving façade, that changes when viewed from different vantage points, and provides a vibrant addition to Melbourne’s skyline.

The carefully crafted residences exemplify elegance and subtly reference the vertical pleating of the façade. Champagne metals and neutral colours provides a sophisticated base for residents. While excellent amenity, including a fully equipped private gym, pool, concierge service, and private dining space creates a sense of luxury and community.
